5213 Matthew Barnes Interior Designer

Profile

One of six children Matthew was raised in the abundant pastures of Northern New South Wales on Australia's East coast. With a passion for the arts and a family in construction it seemed only natural that Matthew gravitated towards the interior design profession. It was in 2004 that he graduated with an interior design degree qualification and formal training in photography from Queensland College of the Arts.

Since then, Matthew has travelled extensively and accomplished a broad range of interior design industry experience ranging from corporate office fit-out to civic, education, hotels, retail and residential design. Matthew has also practiced in three Australian capital cities and several cities abroad including London, where he spent time at the World of Interiors magazine, and Kuala Lumpur where he designed interiors and furniture for the luxury hotel chain Raffles. Matthew has also designed interiors for entities such as Methodist Ladies College, Melbourne and the Musueum of Brisbane, Queensland.

In late 2013, with a volume of design opportunities and surrounded by quality craftsmen, Matthew decided it was time to establish his own design practice specialising in residential and small-to-medium scale commercial projects in the Byron Bay and Gold Coast areas. It is with a keen eye, strong passion and commitment to his craft that Matthew aspires to grow and attract local, national and international design opportunities; working with a variety of clients such as home and business owners, developers and councils to produce sustainable and high-quality interiors to be enjoyed by many for the years to come.

Matthew also is the founder of the Australian retail store - Mr Cushions (www.mrcushions.com) which specialises in quality Australian made product sold globally.
